Description

The Siebruniemi torpedo battery, located in the village of Zapolyarny, is the only rock torpedo battery in Russia. This historical structure is an important coastal defense facility created during the Second World War.

Despite its unfinished state, the Siebruniemi torpedo battery is significant in the context of military history. It was planned that, if ready, it could fire torpedoes from permanently installed torpedo tubes, which would pose a serious threat to enemy ships and vessels.

However, it is worth noting that the Siebruniemi torpedo battery was not completed and it remained unusable. Its construction was complicated by various factors, including the successful actions of the Soviet troops, as well as difficulties in the preparation and construction of underground structures.

Preservation and research of such historical sites is important for understanding the military history of the region and its role in World War II. The Siebruniemi torpedo battery recalls significant events of the past and the contribution of military activities in the north.
