Description

The Irek Mosque in Kazan is one of the most beautiful and impressive mosques in the city, which is an important symbol of the historical and cultural heritage of the region.

Construction of the mosque began in 2015, and the first prayer was said on the day of Eid al-Adha in August 2018. The mosque project was developed by the Moscow company "Architectural Studio of Evgeniy Bolotny". The external architecture of the mosque is distinguished by traditional Islamic style, and the “whitest marble in the world” was used to decorate the facade. Inside the mosque there are also interior designs inspired by other famous mosques such as the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi.

The customer for the construction was the BlagoDarenie charitable foundation for supporting the younger generation and social initiatives. The mosque is active and open to everyone, and it has become a significant element of the architectural landscape of Kazan, attracting both believers and tourists.

Despite some scandals surrounding the construction and operation of the mosque, it remains an important asset to the local community and is a fine example of religious architecture that graces the cityscape.
