Description

The Golubinsky sand massif is a unique territory that deserves special attention to preserve the rich diversity of flora and fauna. Located on the left bank of the Don River, it represents a significant area of natural landscape, which was recognized as a complex natural monument and a specially protected natural area of regional importance.

This sandy massif is distinguished by a variety of flora and fauna. More than 150 species of plants have been identified here, including many rare and unique ones, which are included in the Red Book of both the Volgograd region and the entire Russian Federation. Among the plants there are psammophytic grass-shrub communities, birch and aspen groves, meadow-swamp communities and many other species.

As for the animal world, Golubinsky Sands is home to more than 100 species of insects, 6 species of reptiles and more than 30 species of birds. Many of these species are also listed in the Red Book due to their vulnerability and rarity. Among them, one can note the presence of various species of lizards, snakes, as well as the rare roundhead, which lives exclusively on this sandy massif.

The Golubinsky sand massif is not only a rich biological resource, but also an important place for scientific research and conservation of a unique natural environment. Its status as a specially protected natural area underscores the need for its conservation and management for future generations.
