Description
In the village of Gorkovsky, popularly known as Maksimka, there is a spring known as the spring of Grandfather Taran, which has healing properties. This source is the beginning of the Tsarina River, which flows through Volgograd. Previously, this land belonged to a wealthy merchant named Taranov Nikolai Osipovich, who received the nickname grandfather Taran. According to legend, the water from this spring gave longevity to those who drank it. However, after the dispossession of the merchant in 1930, the spring fell into decay.
Currently, work is underway to improve the spring, initiated by Nikolai Nikolaevich Taranov, the grandson of Taran’s grandfather. Despite the lack of funding, thanks to miraculous powers, as N.N. Taranov himself claims, the improvement of the spring was completed successfully. One of the unusual phenomena was the appearance of the saint’s face on the stone that covered the hole in the fence.
Now the spring is fully equipped, and next to it a monument to grandfather Taran has been erected. A bathhouse has also been built near the spring, and construction of a chapel continues. Birch and poplar trees were planted in the surrounding area, and three springs were recently discovered. Taranov Nikolai Nikolaevich hopes that this place will become a refuge for those who visit the spring of his grandfather, grandfather Taran.
