Description

The Sorochinskoye Reservoir, located near Sorochinsk in the Orenburg region, is a significant artificial reservoir. It was created in 1997 and is located 402 km from the mouth of the Samara River. Its length along the Samara River is 28 km, and along the Bolshoi Uran River - 18 km. At a normal retaining level, the surface area of the reservoir is 35.56 km², and the area of the drainage basin up to the waterworks site is 5640 km².

The history of the creation of the reservoir began in 1968, when work began to solve the problem of water supply in the Buzuluk oil and gas region of the Orenburg region. However, due to financial and technical difficulties, construction of the reservoir was interrupted in 1991-1994.

In 2005, work to complete the reservoir was resumed after a re-examination of the project. The Federal Water Resources Agency took over the financing of the work. Construction was completed, and in 2009 all objects were accepted by the State Commission.

The Sorochinskoye Reservoir plays an important role in regulating the water flow of the Samara River and reducing damage from spring floods. Various types of fish are also bred here, including carp, carp, pike perch, burbot, perch, pike and catfish.

However, the reservoir is currently facing problems with fast-growing algae and shrubs on the banks, as well as water pollution due to waste dumping from populated areas. This creates a negative impact on the ecology of the reservoir.

The Sorochinskoye Reservoir is also of interest to vacationers and fishermen. Currently, there are no organized places for recreation, but it is planned to build a boarding house and a tourist recreation center. However, many people still come here on weekends for outdoor recreation, swimming and fishing. Visiting the reservoir is free, but it is recommended to take everything you need with you, as there are no shops or sources of drinking water nearby.
