Description

The Sufiya Mosque (Tatar: "Sufiya" mәchete, Bashkir: "Sufiya" mәsete), also known as the Kantyukovskaya Mosque, is located in the Tatar village of Kantyukovka, located in the Sterlitamak region of Bashkortostan. It is considered one of the most beautiful mosques in the republic.

The mosque project, developed by chief architect Aivar Sattarov, is based on a combination of oriental motifs and elements of the culture of the Tatar and Bashkir peoples. The mosque was built on the initiative of the village residents using funds from a sponsor, a native of Kantyukovka, General Director of Gazprom Transgaz Kazan LLC Rafkat Kantyukov. It got its name in honor of Rafkat Kantyukov’s mother, Sufia. The opening ceremony on August 22, 2008 was attended by high-ranking representatives of Bashkortostan and Tatarstan, the muftis of both republics, as well as other religious figures and heads of administrations of nearby cities and regions.

The Sufia Mosque is decorated with marble, mosaics and gold. The interior decoration includes Ural marble in two colors, Italian mosaics, Czech crystal chandeliers and lamps, as well as exquisite carpets. The mosque is located on the shore of an artificial reservoir. The cladding is made of marble from the Koelginsky deposit, and the base and steps are made of Ural coils.

Construction of the mosque was completed on August 25, 2008. Its uniqueness lies not only in its size and architectural style, but also in the fact that it is one of the few mosques built in rural areas. The area around the mosque is fenced with a forged iron fence with lighting. Despite its small size, the interior decoration of the mosque amazes with its beauty and sophistication.
