Description
The temple in honor of Saint Seraphim of Sarov in the settlement of Prigorodny in the Orenburg region was founded in 1999 at the initiative of the association "Orenburgneft". The decision to build the temple was made after the construction of a residential complex for oil workers in this settlement. A land plot was allocated for the construction of the temple, and a local Orthodox religious organization - the Parish of Saint Seraphim of Sarov - was established within the production association.
The project and estimate documentation was developed in 1999, and then construction and installation works began. However, at the zero cycle stage of construction, the work was suspended due to the reorganization of the oil company "ONAKO", and the new management stopped financing the construction of the temple.
Nevertheless, thanks to the initiative of R.A. Khramov, President of the Orenburg Regional Public Charitable Foundation "Conscience", and the support of the organization "Terminal", the construction of the temple was resumed. In 2002, a new project of the temple was developed, and in 2003, Metropolitan of Orenburg and Buzuluk Valentine blessed and consecrated the stone for the construction of the temple.
Although the temple has not yet been fully completed, it has become a venue for festive services and attracts more parishioners. Thanks to the efforts of parishioners and the support of organizations, work continues on finishing the temple and landscaping its territory. The Temple of Saint Seraphim of Sarov becomes the center of spiritual life in the settlement of Prigorodny, where services, baptisms, weddings are held, and a children's Sunday school has opened for the study of the basics of faith.
