Description
The monument to the Heroes of the Civil War, towering over the communal grave in the I.M. Plyasunkov Park in the city of Pugachyov, Saratov region, is a creation of sculptor E.F. Timofeyev. This monument, mounted on a high pedestal, depicts the figures of warriors forever resting under the protection of the Eternal Flame installed at the base.
Created in 1957, the monument serves as an eternal memory and tribute to the heroic deeds of those who fought and died during the Civil War. Its installation marks the 40th anniversary of the October Revolution. The previous obelisk with a red star, previously installed at the communal grave, was replaced by this impressive monument.
The communal grave, with the monument standing at its center, is the final resting place for many commanders, warriors, and ordinary citizens who perished during the turbulent years of the civil war. Among them is Ivan Mikhailovich Plyasunkov, whose name remains forever in history. Born in the village of Sulak, he joined the Red Army in 1919 and, thanks to his courage, was appointed as a unit commander. For his bravery and heroism, he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner. He perished in 1921, surrounded by the enemy, yet his spirit and valor live on eternally in the hearts of those who honor his memory.
