Description
The concrete lake, which is a hydraulic treatment facility at the Orenburg gas processing plant, is a wonderful example of engineering architecture, functionally integrated into the landscape of the Orenburg steppes. Located 29 kilometers from Orenburg, slightly deviating from the route to Samara, the lake looks very modern and unique thanks to its concrete banks and clear lines.
Although the area has attracted many photographers and industrial landscape enthusiasts, the lake was recently fenced off and guarded due to its dangers. The total depth of the lake is about 20 meters, and its slippery and steep banks make it a very risky place to visit. The small bridge that runs across the lake also needs serious repairs due to rusted parts.
The concrete lake serves as a treatment facility for the gas processing and helium plants located nearby. However, the air in this area remains clean, and the water, at first glance, seems completely normal. To maintain water quality, algae is grown here, and previously crucian carp were also bred. Local residents used to often come here for fishing, although, of course, this was a violation of the rules.
