Description

The Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was built in 1776 with funds from the collegiate assessor Mikhail Andreevich Milyutin. This is a brick two-altar building, executed in a style representing the transition from Baroque to Classicism. The main altar of the temple was consecrated in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, and the warm side-chapel - in honor of the Archangel Michael.

The temple was distinguished by a massive parabolic dome with lucarnes and a cupola, which was crowned by an octagonal light quadrangle. A rectangular apse and a refectory adjoined the building, and architectural details characteristic of that period were added to the four-tiered bell tower.

The church played an important role in the life of the parish, which included four villages. It also housed a zemstvo school. The temple was restored in 1845, but was subsequently closed, probably not earlier than 1935. After its closure, the church was ransacked and partially destroyed, and today it is in disrepair and has no official owner.
