Description
In December 2014, a new techno-monument was opened in Samara - the famous Soviet medium tank T-34-85. The monument was erected in the Krutiye Klyuchi microdistrict on a pedestal in honor of Hero's Day, which is celebrated in Russia on December 9. This tank became a symbol of gratitude to the defenders of the Fatherland and home front workers of the Samara region in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
This is not the only T-34 tank in Samara - one of them is located in Victory Park, next to the BTR-40 and the ZiS-3 cannon. However, it is good that the tank was not left to rot in the pioneer camp, where it remained for several decades, but was restored to decent condition and installed as a monument.
The project for installing the monument was considered at a meeting of the city Commission for Perpetuating the Memory of Outstanding Personalities and Historical Events. When choosing a tank for the monument, we paid attention to the T-34 manufactured in 1948, standing in the children's health camp "Russia" of the Metalist plant. The tank was in poor condition, and its restoration took a lot of time.
On June 27, 2014, a solemn ceremony took place to transfer the tank into the ownership of the Samara region, after which repair and restoration work began. The appearance of the tank was restored literally to its original condition, completing the work by completely repainting the vehicle and applying side numbers along with stars and the inscription “For the Motherland!”
The opening of the monument took place on December 9, 2014 in the presence of the main officials of the local administration, including the governor of the Samara region, Nikolai Merkushkin.
The "Thirty-Four" monument is in excellent condition and is available for inspection by everyone.
