Description

Zhukov's bunker, located on the territory of the Volga sanatorium on the 7th clearing in Samara, is a historical object with deep roots during the Great Patriotic War. At the beginning of the war in 1941, a decision was made to build an underground command post, which was planned as a control center for the entire military infrastructure of the country in the event of the capture of Moscow.

The bunker, also known as Object A, was built from 1941 to 1943 and named after Chief of the General Staff Zhukov. It was located at a depth of about 30 meters and had an area of about 900 square meters, consisting of 15 rooms for various purposes. Among the features of the bunker were pressure doors at all entrances and a system of iron shields to absorb blast waves.

After the war, the bunker was not used as a military facility and was subsequently abandoned. In the late 1990s, it was flooded with groundwater and was damaged by looters. However, in recent years it has become accessible to civilians and has become a popular excursion site.

The bunker remains a subject of research as it has not yet been fully explored and many parts of it have not been cleared. There are many secrets and unknown aspects of this underground structure, including underground shafts and possible extensions. Perhaps in the future there will be a military history museum here, allowing visitors to learn more about the past and significance of the Zhukov bunker.
