Goat rocks, located on the five-domed mountain Beshtau, are one of the main attractions of the Kavminvod. Although these are not peaks in the usual sense, but rather a mountain range with steep slopes and sharp ledges, they attract tourists for their ruggedness and beauty.
The name of the rocks comes from the fact that only goats are able to climb to the top thanks to their amazing abilities. For them, tiny stones and narrow ledges provide strong support, allowing them to easily move along vertical walls and feast on lush grass and leaves of bushes.
The route to the main peak of Beshtau through the Goat Rocks is one of the longest and physically difficult routes. This path is included in the Beshtaugorsky cross trail route, which many athletes choose to start their journey. The descent from the Beshtau peak passes through the Wolf Gate pass, and the descent along a steep couloir adds zest to this route, especially in the spring, when it is filled with snow.
Climbing to the Goat Rocks, tourists can enjoy breathtaking views and overcome a steep section that leads to a narrow rocky ridge. Here you can see two distinct peaks. For those who prefer a shorter route, it is possible to go to the cache directly from the ring road.
You can truly appreciate the beauty and originality of the Goat Rocks only by walking to them from the top of Beshtau.
