Description

The distant Arbekovsky spring is located in the Arbekovsky forest, behind a residential area, and is a popular place among residents of Penza. This improved source of clean drinking water attracts both locals and visiting cyclists. For the convenience of visitors, there are benches, an iron fence and wooden platforms for approaching the spring. There are icons on the tree next to the spring, which emphasizes its spiritual significance.

Route to the spring

To get to the Far Arbekovsky spring, you need to walk from Stroiteley Avenue along Sobinov Street to Ladozhskaya Street, then go through the garages to the railway line and cross it. Behind the railway embankment a path begins that goes into the bush.

Branching paths

At the fork in the paths, if you go right, you can get to the Near Arbekovsky spring. This spring was improved in the early 2000s under the “Springs” program: it was lined with stone, concreted, a four-slope wooden canopy was installed, and an iron staircase leads into the ravine. Nearby are the icons of the Mother of God of Kazan and St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. At Epiphany, water blessing prayers are held here.

To get to the Far Arbekovsky spring, you need to turn left at the fork and follow to the southeast. After passing by unfinished houses, you should turn right, into the forest, onto Bald Mountain. Soon, a path branches off from the main road to the left, downwards, leading into the ravine where the Far Spring is located.

Construction of a spring

The distant Arbekovsky spring is well equipped: there are iron stairs, benches, a fence and bird feeders. An icon of the Savior is mounted on a tree. This spring has probably been revered as a saint longer than the Near Arbekovsky spring, which adds additional significance to it among local residents.
