Description

The stone church in the village of Karavanny was built in 2008 and consecrated by Metropolitan Valentin of Orenburg and Buzuluk on May 17, 2008. On this day, eleven bells were also raised to the belfry of the Church of St. Andrew the First-Called. The largest of them weighs about 700 kilograms, and the smallest weighs only four kilograms. All bells were cast from an alloy of copper and brass.

The history of the Church of St. Andrew the First-Called in the Orenburg region began in 1739 with the issuance of a decree renaming the city of Orenburg into the Orsk Fortress. At this time, the first church of St. Andrew the First-Called from wood was erected. Due to frequent floods of the Ural River, the church had to be moved twice, and in 1749, due to the flood of the Urals, it was moved to the very top of Preobrazhenskaya Mountain. Nothing has survived from the wooden church of St. Andrew the First-Called to this day, and a new temple was erected in the village of Karavanny in 2008.
