Description
The monument to the fallen Heroes, erected in the once existing village of Kopansky, Akbulak district, Orenburg region, stands as a mute testimony to the courage and sacrifice of Soviet soldiers who fought during the Great Patriotic War. Today the village of Kopansky no longer exists, its name has been erased from maps, and its houses have been destroyed by steppe winds and time. Some of its former residents passed away, while others scattered throughout the Orenburg region.
The monument erected in the village of Kopanskoye is known only from the description and remnants of information on the maps of the General Staff in 1985. This monument is a life-size sculpture of a Soviet soldier standing on a small concrete pedestal. A soldier, covered with a raincoat, holds a removed helmet in his left hand, and a PPSh-41 assault rifle in his right hand. Behind the pedestal there is a small wall on which memorial plaques with inscriptions are installed. The monument is surrounded by an iron fence, around which wooden benches are placed. Despite the fact that the village of Kopanskoye has long disappeared, the monument continues to attract care and attention from visiting people. Every year on May 9, fresh flowers are laid at the monument.
The village of Kopanskoye is the birthplace of one of the Heroes of the Soviet Union - Ivan Dmitriev Zlydenny, who was born there in 1919. Ivan Dmitrievich went from paramedic school to military service, graduating from the Chkalov Flight School. By the beginning of the summer of 1944, he was already in the rank of guards senior lieutenant and senior observer pilot on the Trans-Baikal Front. Having gone down in history as having completed 148 combat missions and shot down 3 enemy aircraft, Sinister was awarded the Gold Star medal and the Order of Lenin. After the war, he continued to serve in the Soviet Army, reaching the rank of colonel and retiring in 1975.
