Description
Arvyakryaz (also known as Arvyak-Ryaz) is a mountain located in the Southern Urals, in the Beloretsky region of the Republic of Bashkortostan. It is the highest peak of the Uraltau ridge, reaching a height of 1068 meters. The mountain is located 20 km south of Beloretsk and has acquired the status of a regional natural monument.
The name of the mountain comes from two rivers originating near it - Arvyak and Ryaz, which are the left tributaries of the Belaya River. In the Bashkir language, the mountain is also known as Ryaz (Рәз) or Ryaz-Tash (Рәз-Таш), which can be translated as “Ryaz Stone”. The mountain has a conical shape and protrudes sharply above the surrounding area, with steep slopes reaching an inclination angle of 30-35°. In the western part of the mountain the slopes are rocky with narrow gorges, and in the eastern part they are gentle. At the foot of the mountain there are motley grass meadows, and in the upper parts of the slopes there are light coniferous forests.
On Mount Arvyakryaz you can observe rare and endangered species of plants, such as club moss, wheatgrass, Helma's minuartia, northern shiverekia, naked kozel, Perm anemone, Siberian adonis, onion-uskun and others. The peregrine falcon also nests on the rocks of the mountain.
Arvyakryaz is a popular holiday destination for Beloretsk residents and tourists. It is clearly visible from the city and becomes an adornment of its landscape.
