Description

The limestone rock, known as the Arskaya rock, is a historical and geological natural monument located in the Beloretsky district of the Republic of Bashkortostan near the village of the same name. Its height reaches about 30 meters. This place attracts attention with its unique contours, formed as a result of centuries-old processes of erosion and weathering. Rare plant species grow around the rock, including relict ones recorded in the Red Book.

Legends connect the Arsk Rock with the history of the uprising of Emelyan Pugachev, claiming that in its depths hides a cave where the Cossacks stored looted treasures. Although there are many similar legends about the Pugachev treasures in Bashkiria, local residents and treasure hunters have repeatedly tried to find this cave. In the 1930s, the rock cave was undermined for unknown reasons, leaving only a pile of rubble in its place.

On the territory of the natural monument there is a tourist recreation center "Arsky Stone", which continues to attract many visitors. Here you can spend time in comfort, book excursions around the surrounding area, take part in horseback riding, hiking or rafting on mountain rivers. Every year there is also a bard song festival held here on the third weekend of September.

To visit the Arskaya Rock, you can get from the city of Beloretsk by shuttle bus or taxi to the village of Sosnovka, and then walk about 800 meters to the tourist base. If you wish, you can also use personal transport, following the road 80K-031 from Ufa and Chelyabinsk or from the Orenburg region along the highway to Magnitogorsk.
