Description
The Saraktash district of the Orenburg region is rich in springs that have a significant impact on the hydrological regime of rivers, lakes and ponds. The source of water has traditionally served as the main motive for human settlement of the area. In most settlements of the Saraktash region you can find at least one natural spring. To date, more than a hundred such sources are known. Each spring has its own characteristics: some are developed and landscaped, while others remain untouched.
One of these springs is St. Andrew's Holy Spring, which is considered the most remarkable in the Saraktash region. For the improvement of this spring, 200 thousand rubles were spent, collected thanks to a donation from a local businesswoman from the village of Andreevka. The spring is located at the foot of the "St. Andrew's Cones", three kilometers from the village, on the back side of the mountain, where the St. Andrew's Monastery is located.
The spring is furnished with sophistication: the surrounding area is decorated with natural stone, and there is parking for cars. At the very source there is an icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. The water in the spring is cool, refreshing and very tasty, ideally quenching thirst on hot summer days. From the top of the hill where the spring is located, a magnificent view of the “Andreevskie cones” opens up. There are five other springs in the area, but St. Andrew's is one of the most memorable. Not far from it is the St. Andrew's Monastery.
