Description
The village of Andreevka, located in the Saraktashsky district, near the border with Bashkiria, is a historical settlement that attracts attention with its attractions, including the St. Andrew's Monastery. For many years, this area has attracted tourists and pilgrims with its rich history.
It is known that the village had connections with the name of Tatyana Petrovna Krasheninnikova, daughter of Pyotr Dmitrievich, and later became the property of Major General Stanislav Fomich Tsiolkovsky. The general's life was connected with military service, but his name also became known thanks to the scandalous events in connection with the Khiva campaign.
Today, St. Andrew's Monastery, which arose from a small monastic community in the 1990s, plays an important role in the spiritual life of the region. The monastery follows a strict liturgical schedule, actively interacts with the community and carries out work to preserve and restore its buildings.
History of St. Andrew's Monastery
St. Andrew's Monastery originates from a small monastic community formed in the 1990s in Orenburg.
On September 10, 1996, the Archangel Michael Church was transferred from the parish of the Holy Protection Church in the village of Saraktasha to the community of monks. After which, by decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church on July 17, 1998, this community was transformed into the St. Andrew's Monastery. For many years, the monastery was managed by His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' Alexy II, who blessed it with the icon of the Apostle Andrew the First-Called.
From the day of its foundation, the monastery strictly follows its charter, without interrupting the liturgical cycle for a single day. During this time, a number of significant events were carried out at the monastery, such as the complete restoration of the Church of the Archangel Michael, the construction of a new two-story fraternal building with 15 cells and a spacious refectory, the creation of outbuildings, a carpentry workshop, and a hotel for pilgrims with a refectory. A major renovation of the building of the former parish school and the priest's house was also carried out, and a private garden and spring were built on the mountain. There is an icon painting workshop in the monastery.
In the Church of the Archangel Michael of God, behind the altar there are the graves of the founding fathers of the temple and monastery, including the temple’s ktitor Mikhail Alekseevich Chistozvonov, who built the temple, and Schema-Archimandrite Seraphim.
