Kyzyl Su Waterfall (Dzhily-Su)
Description
Kyzyl Su Waterfall is one of the waterfalls of the Dzhily-Su cascade on the northern slope of Mount Elbrus, in the Zolsky District of Kabardino-Balkaria. It is formed by the Kyzyl-Kol River, which gives it its name, and belongs to a group of waterfalls in the area alongside the larger Syltran-Su (Sultan-Su) Waterfall, about 40 metres high, as well as the Karakaya-Su (Tuzluk-Shapa) and Gitche-Chuchkhur (Emir) waterfalls.
The name "Dzhily-Su" (Zhyly-Suu) means "warm water" in the Karachay-Balkar language - the area is famous for its many thermal mineral springs, which have long drawn visitors. The site also serves as a starting point for hikes and climbs up the northern slope of Elbrus.
The area can be reached by a paved road with a bridge over the Malka River.
