Description

The church that occupied the Nikolskoye School, founded in 1864 by T.S. Morozov, is historically significant for Orekhovo-Zuevo. The temple itself was erected at the school of M.F. Morozova and consecrated in 1902. In 1907, work on the addition of the altar was completed, which gave the temple its final appearance. During the Soviet regime, a gymnasium for school No. 3 was organized in the temple building. Currently, negotiations are underway with the city administration about transferring the temple into the ownership of the Russian Orthodox Church.

The history of Nikolsky Primary School is closely connected with the development of the city. It was founded by T.S. Morozov in 1864 in a wooden building, which was later moved to the site of the current plant named after. V.A. Baryshnikov. In 1877, the school moved to a new, specially constructed stone building, designed by Moscow architects under the leadership of A.S. Kaminsky. Since 1890, this building housed the Nikolskoye Primary School. In 1902, funded by M.F. Morozova built a house church in the name of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, and in 1908 the work on adding an altar was completed.

Nikolskoye Primary School had an important educational purpose, providing education to the children of workers and people employed in factories, as well as providing religious and moral education. In Soviet times, the school building was reconstructed as school No. 3, and the church was turned into a sports hall. Currently, spiritual and educational activities are carried out in the temple building, including holding services, catechetical courses and humanitarian assistance to the poor.
