Description
Lake Kaban in Kazan is one of the most famous and picturesque natural attractions of the Republic of Tatarstan. It is a system of three reservoirs - Lower, Middle and Upper Kaban, each of which has its own characteristics and legends.
Nizhny Kaban, also known as Blizhny, is separated from Middle Kaban by a bridge and has a channel from which the Bulak River flows. This body of water is the center of attention due to its proximity to the Staro-Tatarskaya Sloboda and the rich historical buildings around it. Near its shore there is a landscaped embankment, fountains and a water promenade, making it a popular place for recreation and entertainment.
Sredny Kaban, also known as Dalniy, connects to the Volga through a channel and serves as one of the sources of filling the Poduvalye reservoir. This body of water also attracts the attention of tourists, especially during major events such as the Formula 1 World Championship on water or the 2013 Universiade.
Verkhniy Kaban, or Boriskovsky, is a completely isolated body of water without communication with other lakes and rivers. Its name is associated with the supposed legends about the Khan's gold or the Prince of Bulgaria Kabanbek, which makes this body of water of particular interest to researchers and mystery lovers.
Together, the Kaban lakes form a unique system of reservoirs that embody the beauty and mystery of the nature of Tatarstan. Legends of treasures, stories of ancient times and modern entertainment make this place attractive to visit and explore.
