Description
The Ermekeyevskoye Reservoir, also known as the Staroshakhovskoye Reservoir or Staroshakhovsky Pond, is a small artificial reservoir located on the northern outskirts of the Ermekeyevsky district of the Republic of Bashkortostan, near the village of Staroshakhovo. The name of the reservoir comes from the regional center - the village of Ermekeyevo.
The history of the creation of the reservoir began in 2006 with the preparation of the bottom and the construction of a dam. Work on the construction of the hydroelectric complex lasted three years, and on July 4, 2009, the grand opening of the facility took place. The main purpose of the reservoir is to regulate the river flow, provide water supply for the city of Oktyabrsky and create opportunities for recreation.
Here are the main characteristics of the Ermekeyevsky reservoir:
- Catchment area: 383 km².
- Length: 4 km.
- Mirror area: 2.72 km².
- Volume: 19,000,000 m³.
- Average depth: 5.2 m.
- Maximum depth: 15 m.
The reservoir is classified as a run-of-river reservoir, and the dam is located on the Stivinzya River, just 2 km from its mouth. The bottom of the reservoir is mainly represented by silt, in places rocky or clayey. The water in the reservoir is used as a source of water supply and also creates opportunities for recreation and fishing.
