Description
The Memorial of Military Glory and the Eternal Flame, located on the main street of the village of Oktyabrsky, Orenburg region, is one of the main attractions of this area. This memorial is an important symbol of memory of those who died during the Great Patriotic War. Situated next to the Eternal Flame, the memorial stands as an important site where people gather to honor the memory of fallen heroes.
Construction of the memorial took place in stages, starting with the installation of the Soldier sculpture in 1965. Subsequently, for the 30th anniversary of the Victory, the memorial was supplemented with a gas burner for the Eternal Flame and a wall with memorial plaques containing the names of fallen soldiers.
However, for the 50th anniversary of the Victory, the memorial underwent a major reconstruction, during which the walls and plaques with the names of the fallen soldiers were updated. An additional board has been added with a quote from Georgy Zhukov, calling to remember those who did not spare themselves in the fight for victory.
Additional elements are also installed around the memorial, including brick walls with the names of soldiers, decorated with a banner and the inscription “They saved the Fatherland.” In total, the names of 601 soldiers who did not return from the front, as well as 287 soldiers whose names were discovered during subsequent search operations, are immortalized on the memorial.
This memorial has become a place where villagers and visitors can commemorate the fallen heroes, pay tribute and give them the honor they deserve.
