Description

The memorial complex "Walk of Glory", opened on May 8, 2015 in the village of Oktyabrskoye, Orenburg Region, is a significant landmark of the Oktyabrsky district. Its opening was timed to coincide with the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The opening ceremony was attended by the Governor of the Orenburg Region, Yuri Berg.

The Walk of Fame complex contains several elements, including:

  • The Wall of Memory of those killed in Afghanistan and Chechnya, which symbolizes respect for those who sacrificed their lives for the defense of the Motherland.
  • Military equipment on pedestals, represented by the T-72B tank and the ZU-23 twin anti-aircraft gun. These exhibits remind of the feat of Soviet soldiers and weapons that were used during the Great Patriotic War.
  • Honor board of the best people of the district, which probably displays the names and merits of famous residents of the Oktyabrsky district.

A few steps from the Walk of Fame is the Eternal Flame Memorial, which is another symbol of memory and respect for those who died for the Motherland. This symbolic fire burns forever, recalling the feat of those who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the Motherland.

Historical reference

It is important to note the great contribution of the Oktyabrsky district of the Orenburg region to the victory during the Great Patriotic War. During the difficult years of the war, the region sent 6,033 people to the front, of whom 3,962 died. These numbers indicate the high mobilization readiness and patriotism of the residents of the region in the most difficult times for the country.

In addition, as of 2015, the following people lived in the Oktyabrsky district:

  • 15 participants of the Great Patriotic War who personally took part in the battles for the liberation of the Motherland;
  • 330 home front workers, whose work and labor contributed to providing the front with material resources and supported the country’s economy during the war;
  • 109 widows of war participants who lost their husbands during the struggle for freedom and independence of the Motherland.

These figures indicate deep respect and recognition of the courage and sacrifice of the people who made the highest sacrifices in the struggle for the future of the country during the Great Patriotic War.

The “Walk of Fame” in the Oktyabrsky district began its creation at the end of 2013 and today is one of the significant attractions of the area. It includes a group of bronze busts on pedestals dedicated to Heroes of the Soviet Union, such as Bogomolov Konstantin Ivanovich, Linkov Grigory Matveevich, Popov Semyon Alekseevich, Taranov Ivan Ignatievich, as well as Heroes of Socialist Labor: Buchneva Alexandra Andreevna, Mukhanov Amangalei Davylovich, Shiryaev Ivan Nikiforovich . The park also has granite slabs with pedestals and boards on which the names of 435 order bearers of the Oktyabrsky district are indicated, as well as granite pedestals with the names of 2 holders of the Order of Glory: Ivan Andreevich Tatyanin and Petr Ivanovich Tugov.

On September 12, 2014, in the village of Oktyabrskoye, a solemn opening ceremony was held for another attraction in the park complex “Walk of Fame” - a monument dedicated to fellow countrymen who died in local wars and military conflicts. Over the years, 155 natives of the Oktyabrsky district participated in international military conflicts, of which 6 people died. In 2004, a monument to internationalist soldiers was erected, but it was dismantled for the installation and opening of a new monument.
