Description
Saint Panteleimon Spring is a holy spring in the village of Serebryanoye, Gorkovsky District, Omsk Region, about 107-110 kilometers from Omsk. The spring is named after the great martyr Panteleimon the Healer and is one of the village's consecrated springs. A wooden staircase leads down to the water along the slope of a ravine.
What is there now
The spring has a small open bathing pool and a changing cabin, so visitors can bathe in the water. The Church of Peter and Paul stands nearby.
The village of Serebryanoye and its springs
Serebryanoye is known for dozens of springs: local residents count about a hundred sources of clean water in the village, and Panteleimon Spring is one of three consecrated among them. The origin of the village's name (Serebryanoye means "silver" in Russian) is not firmly established: according to one version, the nearby river once held so much fish that the water appeared silvery; according to another, the name is tied to silver spoons once cast in the village. According to local accounts, the water of the village's springs contains silver ions, though there is no confirmed research on this.
Legends
A legend connected with Panteleimon Spring holds that its water has healing properties and helps with various ailments. Villagers also share a belief that the relics of Saint Panteleimon may be kept in the village church, though there is no reliable confirmation of this.
