Description

Seven caves, or "Cave City", discovered on the banks of the Sinara River in the Kunashaksky district of the Chelyabinsk region, are new archaeological complexes consisting of ten caves. They were discovered by speleoarchaeologist Vladimir Yurin near the village of Ust-Karabolka, in the rocks near the Solyanoy Ford tract.

The first complex, called Upper Solyanobradsky, includes about six to seven caves, and the second complex, Solyanobrdsky Lower, consists of four caves. The distance between the complexes is approximately 80 meters. The deepest cave is 27 meters long.

Research into these sites began after an archaeological report in 1949 indicated the presence of crevices in the rocks that could be signs of caves. Yurin notes that such caves on the banks of the Sinara River, which has a generally flat topography, are an unusual phenomenon.

The speleologist expresses confidence that after cleaning and examining the caves, they will become part of an interesting excursion and tourist route. Next to the discovered caves there is an archaeological site - an ancient settlement, which is already included in the list of cultural heritage sites of the Chelyabinsk region. This place is rich in archaeological finds associated with different historical eras, ranging from temporary hunting camps to fortified settlements of the Bronze and Iron Ages.
