Description

In 1967, on a small square named after Felix Dzerzhinsky and located near Khlebnaya Square in Samara, a monument to this outstanding Soviet state and party figure was erected. The architectural design of the monument was developed by the famous architect Alexey Morgun, and the sculptural part was created by the talented sculptor Igor Fedorov.

Felix Edmundovich Dzerzhinsky (1877–1926) was an active participant in the Russian and Polish revolutionary movements. During the years of Soviet power, he held important positions, including the head of several people's commissariats and founded the All-Russian Extraordinary Commission (VChK) to combat counter-revolution and sabotage. He also headed a commission to improve the lives of children by organizing a system of educational institutions and orphanages.

The monument to Felix Dzerzhinsky in Samara symbolizes recognition of his contribution to the history and culture of the city. This monument is part of the historical and cultural heritage of Samara and serves as a reminder of significant events and personalities of the past.
