Description
In the historical center of Samara, on Alexey Tolstoy Street, there are a number of old mansions that testify to the rich history of this area. The street, formerly known as Dvoryanskaya, became famous for its luxurious residences built by Samara's noble families. It is interesting to note that the layout of the city in the past included a clear class division, which was reflected in the architecture of the neighborhoods.
One of the outstanding examples of architecture on the street is the mansion located at number 50, characterized by a classical style. This wonderful house was built according to the design of Samara architect A.I. Meisner by order of the merchant A.A. Putilov, who sought to create a unique home that would stand out among other luxurious residences in Samara. The mansion project was sent for approval to St. Petersburg, since the presence of more than seven windows on the facade of the building required approval from the technical committee of the Main Directorate of Public Buildings. The facade of the mansion amazes with its exquisite design: the central part is decorated with various decorative elements, and the courtyard side is crowned with a magnificent external portico facing the Volga. During the construction of the mansion, it was purchased from the merchant by the Noble Provincial Public Assembly.
In the summer of 2014, reconstruction of the building began, and in July 2015, the facade of the mansion was restored. Currently, work is underway to improve its territory, giving this wonderful historical place new grandeur.
