Description

The Millennium Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge over the Kazanka River in Kazan, linking Vishnevsky Street with Amirkhan Avenue as part of the Small Kazan Ring Road. The crossing is 1,524 metres long.

Construction began in 2004: the first stage opened in 2005, and the second was completed in 2007. One of the bridge's distinctive features is its tall pylon shaped like the letter "M", symbolising Kazan's thousand-year history — hence the name "Millennium" (the bridge is also known as the Bridge of the Millennium).

Besides its role as a transport link, the bridge is a popular spot for walks and photos thanks to its unusual architecture and views of the city and river. In the evening it is illuminated, creating a special atmosphere.
