Gambit Singing Fountain (Kazan)
Description
The Gambit singing fountain in Gorky Park in Kazan is one of the most popular spots for both locals and tourists. It was built during the park's renovation, after years of disrepair: in 2014 the park gained walking paths, benches and this light-and-music fountain shaped like a chessboard, where each water jet represents a chess piece.
The fountain runs daily in summer from 9:00 to 23:00. In the evening, from 20:00 to 23:00, a show begins: the fountain "dances" to music and light effects, with the programme lasting about 60-90 minutes and repeating twice each evening. The fountain is walkable, so visitors can walk across it whenever it is not running.
Gorky Park can be reached by public transport - there is a bus and trolleybus stop next to the park - and there is paid parking nearby for those arriving by car.
The Gambit fountain has become one of Kazan's popular leisure spots, where visitors can enjoy an unusual spectacle and spend time outdoors in a well-kept park.
