Description

The Palec Rock, located 2.8 km northeast of the village of Ramazanovo, is a geological natural monument. The rock, resembling a rounded tower, is composed of rocks rare for the region - breccia from limestone fragments. Due to the significant content of hematite, the rock has a cherry color. Serpentinites are also occasionally found in limestone fragments.

The breccia forms a geological body in the form of a rod that breaks through the serpentinites. Serpentinites are exposed near the rock. The question of the origin of the breccia remains open. There are suggestions that it may be a hydrothermal or tectonic formation. The magmatic origin of the breccia is also possible, in which case it should be classified as carbonatites filling the explosion tube.

The Palec Rock is a unique natural object demonstrating rare geological formations and facilitating the study of processes that occurred in the bowels of the Earth.
