Description

Mount Strelnaya stands on the eastern slopes of the Zhiguli Mountains in Samara Oblast, within the Zhiguli Nature Reserve, and is one of the most visited spots on the Samara Bend. At 351 metres it is the reserve's second-highest peak, with views over the Volga, the surrounding islands and the neighbouring summits.

The mountain lies within a specially protected natural area, so strict rules apply here: campfires and tents are not allowed. The mountain can only be visited as part of an organised, guided tour — independent hiking or cycling groups are not admitted onto the Strelnaya route.

The road up the mountain is open in the warm months, from spring to autumn, with the most striking views in autumn. It can be reached by car, or, for travellers without one, by boat from Samara.

Relict pine forests survive on the mountain's slopes — a natural monument rare for this region that draws the attention of scientists and nature lovers alike. Thanks to this, Mount Strelnaya is valued not only for its views but also for its unique ecosystem.
