Description

Arkhyz is a unique place full of amazing sights that will capture the imagination. One of these amazing places is the Lake of Love, or as it is also called, Suuk-Dzhyurek-Kol, which translates as “cold heart”. Its unusual shape, reminiscent of a heart, attracts couples of lovers from different parts of the world.

Lake of Love is located on the Morg-Syrty plateau in Arkhyz at an altitude of 2500 meters above sea level and is part of the Teberda Nature Reserve. The clear water of the lake shimmers in the sun, creating turquoise shades and attracting the eye. This place is considered a symbol of the depth and purity of the most tender feeling - love.

Looking at the transparent surface of the water, you immediately want to plunge into the lake, especially in summer, when the long climb up and the hot sun warms up the body. However, you should swim with caution, as the water here is very cold and there is a risk of hypothermia.

This unique place attracts visitors from all over the world. Not only lovers of mountain landscapes come here, but also couples in love who want to gain new experiences and have an unforgettable romantic date.

Some visitors prefer to book a horseback ride to the lake. This is not only a convenient way to get to the top, but also a source of new experiences. Often such walks end with a marriage proposal, because there is nothing more symbolic than admitting the desire to always be together on the shore of the Lake of Love.

The ideal time to visit the lake is spring and summer. At this time, the surroundings of the lake are decorated with bright greenery, and thin streams of water flow from the glaciers. The shape of the lake became the basis for the emergence of an interesting legend. According to this legend, a long time ago a tribe of giants lived here, and one of them, Karabek, was in love with the beautiful Altynkyz. However, fate presented them with a test, their love was tested by the power of war, as a result of which Karabek died, and Altynkyz turned into a lake, preserving the memory of their love.

The route to the Lake of Love begins from the entrance to the Teberdinsky Nature Reserve. Tourists will then trek through forests, meadows and majestic mountains until they reach their destination. Along the way, you can enjoy natural beauty, a variety of vegetation and immerse yourself in an atmosphere of solitude and tranquility.

If you wish, you can extend your route and visit the neighboring lake – Belkau-Kol. There is a convenient walking trail to get there, which will take you only about 40 minutes.
