Campsite near Andreyevskiye Shishki
Description
A tent campsite at the foot of the Andreyevskiye Shishki hills, a natural monument in Saraktash District, Orenburg Oblast, Russia, on the border with Bashkortostan. The Andreyevskiye Shishki are a chain of five hills, 160–210 metres above the floodplain of the Uskalyk River, stretching almost 6 km near the village of Andreyevka.
Campers choose a spot right in the field at the foot of the hills; the site is reached by a dirt road. The Uskalyk, a narrow river, runs nearby and is shallow enough to swim in during the warm season. One side of the campsite opens onto a view of the hills' wooded slopes.
The place sees few visitors and suits a quiet family getaway with an overnight stay and a barbecue.
At the foot of three of the hills — Chasovnaya (the tallest, known locally as the "Hill of Wishes"), Provalnaya and Maryevskaya — there are five springs where you can fill up on drinking water.
The slopes are part of a protected area with rare plants listed in the Red Data Books of Russia and Orenburg Oblast, so visitors are asked to treat the vegetation with care and take their rubbish with them.
