Pedestrian Bridge near Voronki
Description
The pedestrian bridge stands in a forest park on the right bank of the Belaya River, within the city district of Ufa, close to the Voronki railway platform. It spans a ravine on a cape-like ledge of the riverbank terrace and links the walking trail of the "Ufa Necklace" route with the viewpoints of Lysaya Gora. The place is known above all as part of this walking route through the wooded slopes above the Belaya, rather than as a standalone landmark with its own separate history.
History
The bridge was built in the second half of the 20th century, as a pedestrian crossing that eases the walk from the platform up the slope toward the upper viewpoints of the hill. The path leading down to the bridge follows an old cobbled road laid more than a century ago, and part of that old cobblestone surface has survived to this day, which makes the walk along the trail noticeably different from an ordinary forest path.
Near the bridge lies an archaeological site, a settlement and hillfort known as Voronki. It belongs to the Kara-Abyz archaeological culture of the early Iron Age, which was widespread in the Belaya river basin. The site was discovered in 1928 and has since been counted among the known ancient settlements in the vicinity of Ufa.
What to see
On a rock outcrop above the river near the bridge stands a stone that locals call the "Hanging Stone" — it overhangs the slope and is clearly visible from the trail. The bridge itself is a distinctive feature of the "Ufa Necklace" route, popular among Ufa residents for weekend walks. From the bridge the trail continues on to the viewpoints of Lysaya Gora, which overlook the Belaya valley and the wooded slopes of the right bank.
The route runs through uneven terrain — ravines, terrace ledges, sections of the old cobbled road — all of which make the walk more interesting than an ordinary forest-park path.
Getting there
The bridge can be reached on foot from the Voronki railway platform, one of the nearest suburban train stops to this section of the route. The path down to the bridge follows the old cobbled road through the forest park, and the climb from the bridge leads up to the viewpoints of Lysaya Gora.
