Description

The monument was erected on the site of a mass grave of Red Army soldiers of the 217th Orenburg Regiment, who died during the 1918 battles for the Donguzskaya railway station, near the city of Orenburg. During the civil war in 1918, a clash occurred between the “whites” and the “reds” on the territory of the Khusainov farm. The commander of the "Red" detachment was known by the name Ivanov. As a result of brutal battles with the White Poles, more than 60 Red Army soldiers were killed.

To honor the memory of the fallen soldiers, the head of the construction train, Mr. Stalem, together with the commander of the Red Guards, decided to install a memorial obelisk. The monument was erected at the site of the mass grave of Red Guards, not far from the place where the holiday village is now located. The obelisk was made by railway workers from the Donguz station.

By decision No. 179 of the Executive Committee of the Orenburg Regional Council of People's Deputies of May 13, 1987, the monument to the Red Army soldiers at the Donguzskaya station was declared a cultural heritage and taken under state protection.
